Go make these cookies RIGHT NOW!

I'm not much of a baker, and Keith doesn't really like sweet stuff, so it works out ok.  However, one thing he LOVES are snickerdoodles.  Since he was in bed all weekend with pneumonia and a little anxious about the first practice of the season, I wanted to do something nice for him when he got home from practice last night. So I decided to try this new recipe I found on Pinterest from The Recipe Critic (like below).  I can't believe I had all the ingredients (including cream of tartar and caramel-what???)   They turned out really well, even though we didn't have eggs because I used them all when I cooked breakfast for FIVE kids on sunday.  I googled an egg-substitution (came up with baking powder, water, and oil).  It worked, but I think they will be much better with eggs next time.  Like, tomorrow when I make them again. Seriously.

2013 Posters

I have a tendency to come up with "big" ideas and tell Keith that he should make them happen.  I think he cringes every time he hears me say "you should...."  Because it usually means LOTS of extra work for him.  This is one of those ideas.  Last year, I mentioned how it would be really cool to have posters made with the schedule at the bottom to post in businesses near Reagan for hype and support from the community.  Colleges do this, and even some of the bigger high school programs, and I think it's a neat way to make the players feel like celebrities around town and get our schedule out there.

So here's the (prototype- picture of it) result of my "big idea",  thanks to Keith for making it a reality and Mary Fellowes from Pencraft for the amazing creativity!  This is even better than I could have imagined. I can't wait to see the programs.

They look SO great.  I think the whole Carey family will be walking around St. Johns and Berkman/Cameron saturday to ask businesses to post them in their windows.  Let me know if you wanna join us!

Retail Therapy!

I have to admit, I was struggling with the start of two-a-days yesterday and the fact that Keith would be working until after 9:00pm (while still recovering from a bout with pneumonia this weekend).  Getting back into the routine of football season always take a while for me.  Although I think it gets easier every season, it's still an adjustment from being relaxed and free to do whatever we want during the summer time.

Anyway, I quickly got over my back to football season blues when I checked the mail and the bracelet I ordered from Etsy a few weeks ago had arrived.  I know, it doesn't take much to make me happy.  But seriously, look how cute this is???

On a side note, when did my wrist get so wrinkly???

It gets me fired up for the friday night lights and the excitement of that first game.  I wore it to bed last night. I'm not joking- and I never do that- except when we got engaged- I slept with my engagement ring on for a week.  This bracelet is on THAT level apparently.  Weird.

Anyway, here's the link to the Etsy store in case you want to order your own.
